Many community members have fond memories of the Sheboygan Auditorium and Armory. In an effort to collect and preserve the memories of the Armory, the City of Sheboygan is requesting residents submit their stories online or via a local phone number. The website for armorystories.com has been setup to collect stories and enable residents to view stories from other community members. Select stories may be featured in an upcoming documentary being produced on the Armory from construction to demolition. Interested participants will need to register first on the website and then will be receive an email with a link to upload the story/memory and any content.

After ‘Safer At Home’ overturned, Sheboygan County businesses able to reopen without restriction

In a press release Thursday, May 14, Sheboygan County announced that it would be releasing a guidance package for businesses on Friday. Despite CDC guidance suggesting a phased approach to reopening, the county will not be issuing any orders for reopening businesses, only recommendations.

Sheboygan County Releases New Visual COVID19 Data Dashboard

In a press release on Tuesday, April 14, Sheboygan County Division of Public Health announced it will be sharing daily updates to COVID-19 cases via an online visual dashboard. The dashboard has versions accessible for both desktop and mobile. In the release Health Officer Starrlene Grossman said, “Working in partnership with our mapping experts and IT department, we created the dashboard to create a ‘one stop’ snapshot of the COVID19 data we have here in our community.”
The dashboard will be updated once a day, including weekends, by 3:00pm. Information is gathered from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services and through the Wisconsin Electronic Disease Surveillance System. Due to testing criteria, testing supplies and self-isolations there may be people who have COVID-19 who are not tested.

HSHS St. Nicholas Hospital accepting cloth mask donations

In a press release Monday, HSHS St. Nicholas Hospital announced they would be collecting cloth, handmade facemasks. With it they included the following links with criteria and instructions for making the masks they are requesting. The hospital will be collecting the masks between now and Friday, April 10, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Anybody donating masks is asked to deliver them to the collection bin located outside the hospital’s Chapel entrance on Taylor Drive. They requested that the masks be donated in packs of 25 sealed in sealing plastic bags.

Sheboygan County Health Department reports first coronavirus death in the county

Sheboygan, WI — Sheboygan County Health and Human Services is reporting the county’s first death related to coronavirus. The deceased was a resident at the Sunny Ridge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Besides the deceased, there are three additional confirmed cases of coronavirus related to Sunny Ridge. Two of the cases are residents of Sunny Ridge and one is an employee. The confirmed active cases have been placed into isolation and are being closely monitored.

City of Sheboygan Needs Poll Workers

The City of Sheboygan is calling for residents of Sheboygan County willing to serve as poll workers for the April 7, 2020 election to replace poll workers who are unable to serve due to age or health concerns from the Coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic. In Wisconsin, election inspectors are appointed at the municipal level. Anyone who is interested in working should contact the City Clerk’s office immediately at 920-459-3361. Municipal clerks will provide training for any new election inspectors before the election. The Wisconsin Elections Commission and the Wisconsin Department of
Health Services are working to provide local election officials with
guidance for ways to conduct the election safely and securely.

One case of potential community spread coronavirus found in Sheboygan County

In their daily update on Wednesday, March 25, Sheboygan County Health and Human Services reported one new confirmed case of coronavirus in Sheboygan County. The new case has no recent international travel history, or known contact with any of the existing 6 cases, which indicates community spread. With today’s addition, there have been seven total confirmed cases of coronavirus in the county. Two of the confirmed cases have recovered and the remaining five are considered active. According to the numbers reported to Sheboygan County Health and Human Services, there have been 61 additional tests completed in the county that were negative.

Sheboygan Police: Alternate Side Parking Enforcement Suspended Effective March 28, 2020

By order of the Chief of Police and the Mayor of Sheboygan, the City of Sheboygan will suspend enforcement of alternate side winter parking rules effective Saturday, March 28, 2020 in response to the COVID-19 circumstances. Please continue to follow parking rules through Friday, March 27, 2020 to allow for DPW’s street sweeping operations.
