One case of potential community spread coronavirus found in Sheboygan County

In their daily update on Wednesday, March 25, Sheboygan County Health and Human Services reported one new confirmed case of coronavirus in Sheboygan County. The new case has no recent international travel history, or known contact with any of the existing 6 cases, which indicates community spread. With today’s addition, there have been seven total confirmed cases of coronavirus in the county. Two of the confirmed cases have recovered and the remaining five are considered active. According to the numbers reported to Sheboygan County Health and Human Services, there have been 61 additional tests completed in the county that were negative.

Sheboygan Police: Alternate Side Parking Enforcement Suspended Effective March 28, 2020

By order of the Chief of Police and the Mayor of Sheboygan, the City of Sheboygan will suspend enforcement of alternate side winter parking rules effective Saturday, March 28, 2020 in response to the COVID-19 circumstances. Please continue to follow parking rules through Friday, March 27, 2020 to allow for DPW’s street sweeping operations. In an effort to keep our employees and the public safe during the ongoing health emergency, the Sheboygan Police Department lobby will be closed until further notice. During this time we will be making every effort to provide continued service to the public. If you need to speak to an officer, please call the Dispatch Center at (920) 459-3333 (option 1). For emergencies, call 911. If you need to pay a parking ticket, or an animal license, you may either use the drop box in the vestibule (which is still open) or call (920) 459-3342 to pay by credit card.

Sheboygan Police: 2019 Annual Report

We are pleased to announce the release of our 2019 Annual Report. The report documents the department’s challenges, accomplishments, and key activities. Last year, the department continued to focus on crime and accident reduction. We finished 2019 with a 5% reduction in crashes. We also had 911 Part 1 Crimes, a 55% reduction from the 2,006 Part 1 Crimes reported in 2009.

Wash your hands (and other tips to avoid transmitting coronavirus and other illnesses)

According to Sheboygan County Health and Human Services – Division of Public Health (DPH), the risk for COVID-19 in the State and in Sheboygan County remains low. Sheboygan County DPH is working closely with the State of WI DHS in conjunction with the CDC to ensure appropriate measures are in place to prepare our community for COVID-19 should we see cases. The Sheboygan area is, on the other hand, experiencing an unusually bad flu season and flu related hospitalization rates are at an all time high. Regardless of whether Sheboygan will be faced with local COVID-19 cases, taking measures to avoid spreading illnesses is extremely important for your health and the health of the community. According to the CDC, the spread of the flu, COVID-19, and many other illnesses can be greatly reduced by properly washing your hands for at least 20 seconds.

First Lady Kathy Evers (and Governor Tony Evers) visit Sheboygan County Historical Museum to share in centennial celebration of women’s suffrage.

First Lady Kathy Evers visited the Sheboygan County Historical Museum Saturday, February 22, to share in the centennial celebration of women’s suffrage. Wisconsin was the first state to ratify the 19th Amendment and the event was held in celebration of the 100th anniversary of that, as well as its later adoption to the U.S. Constitution in August of 1920. As the chair of the Committee to Celebrate the Centennial of Wisconsin’s Ratificati​on of the 19th Amendment, Kathy spoke to a full room about the history of the suffragist movement and the importance of continuing to work towards making sure voting is easy and accessible for everyone. Governor Tony Evers was also in attendance and spoke briefly, echoing much of what the First Lady had shared. Simone Munson, the Collection Development Coordinator for the Wisconsin Historical Society, then made a presentation, “The Woman’s Hour has Struck.”
