Common Council President Ryan Sorenson and Mayor Mike Vandersteen announce Mayoral campaigns

Mayor Mike Vandersteen and Common Council President Ryan Sorenson have both announced they will be running for mayor for the City of Sheboygan. The election will be held April 6, 2021.

Sorenson’s announcement was made on social media with a campaign video. In the announcement Sorenson said, “For years, we have struggled with crumbling roads, lakeshore erosion, and a growing opiate and human trafficking crisis. This community needs bold, new leadership that can address all of these challenges while building a more sustainable economy for all who live here.”

Sorenson has served as a member of the city’s common council since 2017. In summer of 2020 he was elected to the position of Common Council President after a vacancy left when Todd Wolf was hired as City Administrator.

Vandersteen has served as Sheboygan’s mayor since 2013 and was reelected in 2017.

Vandersteen’s announcement was reported by The Sheboygan Press and Seehafer News. At time of writing MySheboygan has not received official announcement of Vandersteen’s campaign and we have been unable to locate a public announcement of any kind.
