PRESS RELEASE4th of July Festivities Canceled
Sheboygan, Wisconsin. After careful consideration, the City of Sheboygan has made the decision to cancel the City-sponsored 4th of July Freedom Fest parade and festivities at Deland Park to be held in 2020 on Saturday, July 4, 2020. Also canceled is the Venetian Boat Parade held on July 3, 2020, at dusk in the Sheboygan River sponsored by the Sheboygan Yacht Club. As of today’s date, the 4th of July fireworks sponsored by Festival Foods is planned to happen at dusk on July 4, 2020. Should Governor Evers Badger Bounce Back plan not to allow larger group gatherings by July 4, 2020, city staff will make a final decision on June 1, 2020, and the fireworks will be moved to Saturday, September 5, 2020, Labor Day weekend.
The City of Sheboygan would like to thank our continued sponsors of the event, Plenco, Festival Foods, and Wisconsin Bank and Trust. The city is organizing alternate plans for launching the fireworks in years 2020, 2021, and 2022 based on the reconstruction of the South Pier by the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers. Watch for additional details in the future.
